EC steps up monitoring of digital content, 98 materials face action

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The Election Commission (EC) has intensified monitoring of content published on the internet. The EC said it has initiated action against digital materials disseminated in violation of the election code of conduct.



The EC conducted the monitoring using the e-Monitor Plus software. Through this process, 98 digital contents have been recommended for action through six separate notices.

According to the EC, the contents are related to the election. The Information Integrity Center operated by the EC recommended these materials for action.


During elections, the influence of the internet and social media remains significant, as misinformation spreads rapidly through these platforms, which can affect the fairness of the electoral process.
