DAMAULI, Jan 27: Excavation work to retrieve the remaining parts of the Ganapati Deluxe bus found on the bank of the Trishuli River in Ambukhaireni Rural Municipality–5, Dondrangbesi, Tanahun, has been suspended from today.
Assistant Chief District Officer Deepak Regmi said the decision to halt the excavation was taken on the 17th day since the operation began, after difficulties arose in removing the remaining submerged parts of the bus. Some portions of the vehicle had already been retrieved from the river.

The excavation work began on January 11 after the bus was first located on January 10. On the 16th day of the operation, human skeletal remains were found inside the bus.
According to Regmi, further investigation is underway following the discovery of the skeletal remains inside the vehicle.
The Ganapati Deluxe bus, bearing registration number Bagmati Province 03-001 Kha 2495, had gone missing after being swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide along with debris at Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–29, Chitwan, on July 12, 2024, while traveling from Kathmandu to Gaur.
The bus was later found on the riverbank in Tanahun on January 10.
