KATHMANDU, May 5: The Ministry of Finance has started consultations with line ministries as part of preparations for the budget of the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27.
According to the secretariat of Minister for Finance Dr Swarnim Wagle, discussions were held with nine ministries on Monday, focusing on their budget plans and priorities.

The ministries consulted include Home Affairs; Labour, Employment and Social Security; Industry, Commerce and Supplies; Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Communication and Information Technology; Education, Science and Technology; Youth and Sports; Federal Affairs and General Administration; and Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.
The discussions, led by Minister Wagle, were attended by the finance and revenue secretaries, members of the budget drafting committee, and senior officials from the Budget and Program Division.
During the meetings, ministers, secretaries, and concerned officials from the respective ministries presented their proposed budget frameworks, policies, programs, and resource requirements.
The Finance Ministry said consultations with the remaining ministries will continue on Tuesday.
