JHAPA, June 3: Police have arrested four individuals along with 5 kilograms of cannabis and more than 14 grams of brown sugar in separate operations in Jhapa district.
Acting on a special tip-off, a team from the Area Police Office Anarmani seized 5 kg 90 grams of cannabis from a house in Ward No. 4 of Birtamod Municipality, according to Suman Baniya, Deputy Information Officer at the District Police Office Jhapa.
In connection with the case, police arrested 30-year-old Binod Magar of Arjundhara Municipality–7 and 20-year-old Sagar Rai of Hatuwagadhi Rural Municipality–4, Bhojpur, on charges of involvement in drug trafficking.
Four arrested with brown sugar
In a separate incident, two more individuals were arrested from the Tagnadubba area of Jhapa Rural Municipality–4 with brown sugar.
Police said a team from the Tagnadubba Police Post detained Suraj Rai, 32, of Damak Municipality–10 with 6 grams and 1 milligram of brown sugar while he was entering Nepal from India on foot.
Similarly, 42-year-old Baburam Darji of Biratnagar Metropolitan City–3, Morang, was found with 8 grams and 70 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
Both detainees have been taken to the District Police Office Jhapa for further investigation.
