FWEAN, NIMB join hands to boost women-led businesses

The Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and Nepal Investment Mega (NIMB) Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at encouraging Nepali women to enter the entrepreneurial sector and strengthening women-led businesses.

KATHMANDU, Sept 2: The Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and Nepal Investment Mega (NIMB) Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at encouraging Nepali women to enter the entrepreneurial sector and strengthening women-led businesses.



FWEAN President Shova Gyawali and NIMB Bank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jyoti Prakash Pandey inked the agreement during a special ceremony on Tuesday, held in the presence of NIMB Bank Chairperson Prithvi Bahadur Pandey.


The MoU primarily targets women-led enterprises as well as women aspiring to become entrepreneurs. “Through this partnership, we have agreed to support and promote businesses initiated or planned by women across all provinces, districts, municipalities, and wards by facilitating access to banking and financial services,” said FWEAN President Gyawali. “We will also collaborate on enhancing financial literacy among women nationwide.”

Gyawali added that FWEAN and NIMB Bank will jointly organise capacity-building and training programmes to strengthen women’s entrepreneurial skills.


According to the MoU, NIMB Bank will support women wishing to launch startups, prioritise concessional loans for women entrepreneurs, and provide banking services through its nationwide branches to promote women-led enterprises.


Bank Chairperson Pandey reaffirmed NIMB’s longstanding commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs. “The bank has been promoting women-led businesses for years through concessional entrepreneurship loans,” he said. “With this collaboration, we believe our efforts will be even more impactful and contribute to the nation’s prosperity.”


NIMB Bank CEO Pandey also expressed enthusiasm about jointly running financial literacy programmes with FWEAN, targeted at women entrepreneurs.


The signing ceremony was attended by NIMB Bank’s Bagmati Province Managers, Srijana Pandey and Grishma Adhikari Khanal, and FWEAN Executive Director Abhilasha Paudel.
