KATHMANDU, Jan 15: Gen Z activist Tanuja Pandey has welcomed the selection of the new president of the Nepali Congress (NC), calling it a historic turning point not only for the party but for the country at large.

“From today, the Nepali Congress is no longer just a party of Congress supporters—it has become a party of the people. A frozen pond has turned into a river,” Pandey wrote on social media. She added that keeping this river “pure and flowing” would require collective effort from the generation of leaders including Gagan, Bishwa, Pushpa, Pradip, the gurus, and those who follow.
Describing the development as a victory for both the NC and democracy, she said it marked the beginning of a new era. Referring to the Gen Z youth uprising on September 8, Pandey said the movement laid a strong foundation for change, urging leaders to correct past mistakes, steer the country toward a new era, and keep the flame of democracy alive.
