KATHMANDU, July 28: The government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident that took place in Dewanganj, Sunsari on Sunday night.
The committee formed under the coordination of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Bhupendra Thapa includes Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi, Superintendent of Armed Police Force (APF) Bikram Humagain, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Shaligram Bhandari and Assistant Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Sunsari, Poshan Lamichhane, as member-secretaries.

The committee has been given the responsibility of studying the incident and submitting a report within a week. The report will also include necessary suggestions to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
Tension has increased in Sunsari after one person was shot by the police while controlling a dispute between two groups in Dewanganj Rural Municipality-3, Kaptanganj. The local administration has issued a curfew order as the situation started to get out of control.
After this incident, Home Minister Sudhan Gurung held discussions with the heads of security agencies on Monday. The investigation committee was formed after the same discussion.
