KATHMANDU, May 23: Nepal is currently experiencing the influence of westerly and local winds, along with a low-pressure area near the eastern region of the country.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather is generally cloudy in Koshi Province and the remaining Himalayan and hilly regions.
Madhesh Province has partial cloud cover, while the remaining Terai region has largely clear skies.
Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in a few places in Gandaki Province and at one or two places in Sudurpashchim Province.
Heat waves to continue for five more days in Terai
The Division has forecast generally cloudy weather in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces this afternoon.
The remaining Himalayan and hilly regions of other provinces, including Madhesh Province, will remain partly cloudy, while the rest of the Terai region will remain mainly clear.
There is a possibility of moderate rainfall and snowfall in some areas of the Himalayan and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces; in a few areas of the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Madhesh provinces; and at one or two places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Lumbini and Karnali provinces, the Division stated.
Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in the hilly region of Gandaki Province.
Hotter days are likely in the hilly regions, while heat waves are predicted in the Terai regions of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will see generally cloudy weather. Hilly and mountainous regions in the remaining provinces will be partly cloudy, while the remaining Terai areas will remain largely clear.
There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces, in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in some areas of the mountainous region of Karnali Province.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi Province.
