JUMLA, Feb 19: Seven people, including two election police personnel, were injured after a van collided with a tractor near Dhaulpani in Tatopani Rural Municipality–6.
The accident occurred at around noon on Thursday. According to the District Police Office, Jumla, the van (registration number Bhe 1 Ja 818), which was travelling from Jumla Bazaar towards Nagma, collided with a tractor and fell approximately 40 metres off the road. In the accident, 21-year-old election police officer Dharmendra Rokaya of Odi village, Hima Rural Municipality–2, sustained serious injuries.

The injured include 35-year-old Menuka Budha of Raragaun, Tila Rural Municipality–1; 31-year-old Maya Nepali of Chhum village, Patarasi Rural Municipality–4; 21-year-old Paras Rawat of Lamri village, Tila Rural Municipality–2; 48-year-old Puni Sunar of Litakot village, Tatopani Rural Municipality–3; 19-year-old Lokendra Khadka of Bavira village, Tatopani Rural Municipality–2 (the van driver); and another 20-year-old election police officer, Tekendra Rawat of Lamri village, Tila Rural Municipality–2.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rabin Babu Regmi of the District Police Office, Jumla, said police and Armed Police Force teams reached the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident and carried out rescue operations. The injured are undergoing treatment at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. According to the District Police Office, two of the injured are in critical condition.
Police said that a detailed investigation into the accident is under way.
