LALITPUR, Aug 29: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has launched the LMC HaatBazar app to help women entrepreneurs sell their products in the market.

The app allows registered entrepreneurs in the metropolis to showcase their products directly to buyers. Women entrepreneurs must upload all details of their products on the app. Buyers can log in, view the products, and place orders. Entrepreneurs need to contact the metropolitan city office to log their products on the app.

Chiribabu Maharjan, mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, described the app as an important tool for marketing women’s products. He said, “In the era of IT, this app is significant for promoting women’s products.” He urged all women entrepreneurs to make full use of the app.

The metropolitan city office believes the app will help address the challenge of “having products but no market.” Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, deputy mayor and coordinator of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Facilitation Center, said the app will play a key role in bringing products to the market when entrepreneurs struggle to sell them. She added, “Entrepreneurship and business are not the same. Running a business is challenging, and this app makes it easier for entrepreneurs to connect directly with buyers.”

Although the metropolitan city has organized numerous haat bazaars over the years, the app provides a permanent solution for product marketing, according to the deputy mayor.

Shobha Devi Kharel, head of the Women’s Section, noted that the app eliminates the need for middlemen, allowing buyers and sellers to negotiate directly and inquire about product quality.

Dr Binod Krishna Shrestha of Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) thanked the metropolitan city office for prioritizing entrepreneurship and launching the app. He said the app will significantly support marketing by enabling direct contact between entrepreneurs and buyers.

Alongside the app launch, an orientation program on entrepreneurship was organized to provide further information and guidance to entrepreneurs.
