According to the minister’s secretariat, Timilsina directed service providers and concerned authorities to maintain high alert, stressing that internet services must not be disrupted under any circumstances.
He also underlined the importance of improving digital service quality to enhance administrative efficiency, noting that both technical and human errors could lead to service disruptions. He called for the deployment of skilled manpower to address such challenges.
Bhattarai said that measures have already been adopted to resolve recurring issues of slow internet speeds and occasional connectivity disruptions in some offices within Singha Durbar.
He added that a broadband service with a capacity of 1 Gbps is currently in operation through Nepal Telecom, along with an additional 250 Mbps broadband connection used for operating the government’s “G-Cloud” system.
He also noted that disruptions in optical fiber networks have been a key cause of internet issues and stressed the need to lay optical fiber cables underground to ensure stable connectivity.
