KATHMANDU, Feb 18: A total of 70,503 individuals received work permits for foreign employment from the government in the past one month.
According to the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE), it issued work permits to over 70,000 people in the period between mid-January and mid-February, which included 62,162 men and 8,341 women. Of the total number, 37,812 people took labour permits for the first time, including 32,874 men and 4,938 women.

With 15,137 individuals receiving permits last month, the UAE was the most attractive employment destination for the migrant workers. Similarly, 11,592 people have been approved to work in Saudi Arabia, 11,580 for Qatar, 10,341 for Malaysia, 5,443 for Kuwait and 3,940 for Romania. In addition, 1,760 people took permits for Japan, 1,255 for Cyprus, 1,225 for Oman and 1,127 individuals were approved labour permits for Bahrain.
In the first seven months of the current Fiscal Year (FY), a total of 661,221 people left the country in seeking to work abroad. Among them, 576,512 were males and 84,709 were females.
