KATHMANDU, April 27: The Cabinet on Monday promoted Narayan Dutta Poudel to the post of Inspector General (IG) of the Armed Police Force (APF)- Nepal.
Poudel, currently serving as chief of the Human Resource Development Department of the Armed Police Force, was ranked first in the seniority order.

He began his career as an inspector in the Nepal Police on March 21, 1998 and was later transferred to the Armed Police Force on April 17, 2001.
Other contenders for the top post included AIG Banshiraj Dahal and AIG Ganesh Thada Magar.
The current APF Inspector General Raju Aryal is set to retire on May 1 upon completing his four-year tenure. He is expected to go on leave a few days prior to his retirement.
