NCP leaders Dahal and Nepal direct Haribol to withdraw his rebel candidacy

Nepali Communist Party leaders Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal have instructed Haribol Gajurel to ensure the withdrawal of rebel candidate Maheshwor Dahal from Sindhuli-2.

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal have instructed party leader Haribol Gajurel to withdraw his candidacy from Singhuli constituency-2.



Tha party has nominated Lekhnath Dahal against which agitated leader Maheshwor Dahal had filed his candidacy as independent from the same area. It is said that Dahal filed his candidacy with support from senior NCP leader Haribol.

Issuing a statement from the party headquarters on Tuesday, the NCP leadership said Gajurel has been directed to play a role to facilitate in withdrawing unauthorized candidacy. 


According to the statement, Maheshwar Dahal, a central committee member of the party, filed his nomination in defiance of the party’s official decision for the March 5 polls. The party said it learned of the unauthorized nomination from the Election Commission’s published list of direct-election candidates.


NCP urged Haribol to ensure the withdrawal of the rebel candidate, calling his nomination a breach of party discipline.
