KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, Tap Bahadur Magar, has urged everyone to make the upcoming elections clean, free, fair, and fear-free.
At the programme organized on Wednesday by the Citizen Campaign for Fair Election entitled 'Role of Elections and Stakeholders for the Stability of Democracy,' he highlighted the crucial role of the government, political parties, civil society, security agencies, and the media in creating an atmosphere conducive to the elections. “The people should be able to choose their capable representatives impartially. No one should mislead the voters”, he noted.
Also speaking on the occasion, Acting Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Dambar Bahadur BK, shared that all preparations regarding election security arrangements and readiness have been completed.

Expressing the commitment to fulfilling their responsibilities in the first phase of the elections, he said that voters' interest to cast ballot in the elections and the morale of security personnel were high.
Likewise, Additional Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Ganesh Thada Magar, stated that the general public was mainly concerned about the upcoming elections following the emergence of special circumstances in the country.
He said, “In accordance with the Election Commission and the integrated security plan, we will provide security in the second phase. Security arrangements have been made by setting up security cells at the central, provincial, and district levels, with an analysis of potential security challenges".
Usha Gajmer, a representative of the Election Commission, urged all political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to comply with the already-enforced election code of conduct.
She emphasized the need of legal framework mandating authority to penalize anyone making allegations against a specific candidate in the elections.
