KATHMANDU, April 18: Darjeeling-based singer Pawan Gole is set to perform at Paleti, a musical series held at Nepalaya’s R-Sala on the last Friday and Saturday of every month.
Gole last performed at Paleti 14 years ago. This time, he will present a mix of old and new songs, including compositions by Ramesh Gurung, who will accompany him on harmonium.
Gole is a familiar name among Nepali-speaking audiences, best known for his popular song Hawasanga Bagu Bhancha. He has long been active in Darjeeling’s music scene and retired in 2021 from the Information and Culture Department under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, where he served as an artist.

Despite his retirement, Gole remains active in music. Organizers say his return to Kathmandu aims to reconnect him with a wider Nepali audience.
At this edition of Paleti, Gole will perform songs composed by Subarna Limbu, Paras Gajmer, Basanta Chhetri, Pradip Chhetri, and Ramesh Gurung, with lyrics by several noted writers.
Recalling his previous performance in 2012, Gole said he was excited to return to the stage. “I still cherish the experience from my last Paleti performance. I hope to receive the same love from audiences this time as well,” he said.
The event will be held on April 24 and 25 at Nepalaya, Kalikasthan. Tickets are available online at www.paleti.com.np.
Paleti, which prioritizes Nepali modern music, has been running for the past 21 years.
