SURKHET, Oct 21: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur has said that relief will be sent to the victims of floods and landslides caused by incessant rain. In a Cabinet meeting held earlier on Wednesday, PM Deuba decided to provide relief of Rs 200,000 each to the families of those who died in the natural disasters. He also said that a relief package will be distributed to the people who have lost their property to the disasters.
“The incessant rain caused by climate change has heavily affected life and property,” Deuba said. Speaking to media personnel at the Surkhet Airport on Thursday, Prime Minister Deuba, who was on an on-site inspection of the damage caused by floods and landslides in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, said that the families of the natural disaster victims will be provided relief. “We will provide additional relief after estimating the overall damage,” he said. Stating that the incessant rainfall has heavily damaged the crops, PM Deuba said that relief will be provided to the farmers after estimating the overall damage. During his inspection of Surkhet, PM Deuba was informed about the situation by the Chief Minister of Karmali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.
Furthermore, PM Deuba said that he would speak about the challenges faced by Nepal due to climate change at the United Nations International Conference on Climate Change, which will be held in November.
