KATHMANDU, Feb 7: CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that a video circulated during the Gen Z protests—purportedly showing cash being burned at the residence of then Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and other leaders—was fabricated using artificial intelligence.
Responding to a voter during a door-to-door campaign in Jhapa, his home district, on Saturday, Oli said the video and accompanying photos were fake and created abroad to spread disinformation, urging the public not to believe everything shared on social media.

Asked why he had remained silent despite pledging zero tolerance toward corruption, Oli said he could not guarantee the integrity of every leader and would take action only if wrongdoing was proven.
He also pledged to act against corruption if elected prime minister. However, voters during the campaign voiced dissatisfaction and demanded an impartial investigation into corruption allegations.
