Bangladesh Embassy hosts networking dinner for Nepali businesses, Bangladeshi exhibitors

KATHMANDU, May 9: The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh, hosted a networking dinner on Thursday bringing together prominent Nepali businesspersons and Bangladeshi entrepreneurs participating in the South Asia Trade Fair 2026.



According to a press release issued by the embassy, the event, held at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel, was attended by leading Nepali business leaders, representatives of major business bodies including the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), Nepal Foreign Trade Association (NFTA), entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, diplomats and Bangladeshi exhibitors.


The embassy said 24 Bangladeshi companies are participating in the trade fair, showcasing export-oriented products from sectors such as ready-made garments, handicrafts, jute and jute products.

Addressing the gathering, Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal, Md. Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral trade, investment and business connectivity between Nepal and Bangladesh.


According to the press release, the ambassador described Bangladesh as one of Asia’s emerging manufacturing and export hubs, particularly in sectors including ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, textiles and jute products. He also highlighted the potential for expanding Nepal-Bangladesh cooperation in agro-processing, energy, tourism, information technology and pharmaceuticals.


The ambassador noted that improved regional connectivity and trade facilitation measures, including the use of land ports such as Banglabandha, have helped ease trade flows and create new opportunities for businesses in both countries, the embassy stated.


The programme also featured an interactive networking session where entrepreneurs and stakeholders from both countries discussed investment partnerships and regional economic cooperation.


Earlier in the day, the embassy organized a business-to-business (B2B) meeting between Nepali business leaders and representatives of Bangladeshi companies participating in the trade fair.


According to the embassy, the meeting provided a platform for exploring new avenues of bilateral trade and investment cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh.
