KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Eco Justice Initiatives has formed a Women Climate Champions Group in Bethanchowk Rural Municipality under its climate justice and community empowerment project, aiming to strengthen women’s leadership in local climate action, Eco Justice Initiatives said in a press release.
The 22-member group is led by Vice Chair of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality Tara Rana Timilsina. It comprises elected ward representatives, government school teachers, a legal expert serving on the Judicial Committee, the president of the School Management Committee, and representatives from local stakeholder groups.

The session was facilitated by Susan Sapkota, Project Lead of the initiative, who guided discussions on women’s leadership, climate action, and community-driven environmental protection. The initiative aims to enhance women’s leadership in addressing climate challenges while promoting inclusive and community-driven environmental governance.
According to Eco Justice Initiatives, the group will work on climate protection, environmental conservation, and community-driven sustainability initiatives at the local level. Members have committed to promoting inclusive participation and strengthening local environmental governance through coordinated action.
