KATHMANDU, May 8: Police have arrested one of the inmates who had escaped from the Chitwan District Prison.
The arrested individual is an Indian national, who was apprehended from Birgunj and brought back into custody, officials said.
According to prison chief Rabindra Prasad Dhungana, the detainee—identified as 70-year-old Rubeda Khatun, also known as Sushila Devi—was serving a sentence in a narcotics-related case.

A total of 11 Indian nationals had escaped from the prison during the jailbreak.
During the Gen-Z protests on September 10, a total of 743 inmates, including four minors, had fled the prison. So far, 640 have returned, while 103 remain at large, he said.
Officials said that among those still missing, many are involved in drug-related offences and rape cases, while one is also linked to rhino poaching.
The prison administration had issued a notice asking escaped inmates to return by October 6. Authorities have warned that those failing to return within the deadline will face action under the Prison Act, 1963, and other prevailing laws.
They further stated that anyone found sheltering or assisting escaped inmates will also face legal action.
