Kathmandu Gorkhas defeat Janakpur Bolts by five wickets in opening match of NPL

Kathmandu Gorkhas defeated defending champions Janakpur Bolts in the first match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which kicked off at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Kathmandu Gorkhas defeated defending champions Janakpur Bolts in the first match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which kicked off at Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground on Monday.



Janakpur Bolts were invited to bat first after losing the toss and scored 130 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In response, Kathmandu Gorkhas met the target in 18 overs losing just five wickets riding on a quickfire 46 runs off 23 balls, including five fours and three sixes, by opener Ben Charlsworth.

For Janakpur Bolts, opening batsman Aasif Sheikh anchored the innings with an impressive half-century. However, the team struggled to post a big total due to regular wicket losses at the other end.


Milind Kumar of Kathmandu Gorkhas took the highest three wickets.
