NEPSE inches up 8.78 points as daily turnover slides to Rs 3.43 billion

KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 8.78 points to close at 2,712.86 points.



The secondary market that opened at 2,704.08 points initially plunged to the day’s low at 2,685.02 points in the first 24 minutes. The market however rose and hit the day’s high at 2,726.02 points in the next around one hour. The market remained almost stable for the next two hours, while it shed around 14 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Six sectors were the losers, while non-life insurance shed the largest of 13.79 points. Of the seven gainers, manufacturing and processing surged by the largest of 70.39 points.


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased 1.26 points. Daily turnover fell to Rs 3.43 billion from Rs 4.26 billion.


Among the individual companies, 162 were the gainers as 90 lost their charms for the investors. Solu Hydropower Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 235.71 million.


Upper Lohore Khola Hydropower Company stood as the topmost gainer of 11.16 percent. Forward Microfinance Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited witnessed a decline of 9.31 percent in its market value and was recorded as the highest loser.
