KATHMANDU, Dec 15: President Ram Chandra Paudel has praised the work of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balen Sah and highlighted the need for energetic and principled leadership in the country.
Addressing the program on the occasion of the 31st Metropolitan Day held at the Sainik Manch on Monday, President Paudel said the services delivered, projects implemented and strengthened relationships by the metropolitan office reflect the local government’s sense of responsibility.

He lauded the innovative and proactive approaches shown by the metropolitan office in economic, social and physical development as well as urban management. “The services and facilities provided to citizens and beneficiaries confirm the effectiveness of young and energetic leadership in the metropolitan office,” he stated.
President Paudel highlighted exemplary initiatives by the metropolitan office including urban management, river and water system management, promotion of greenery and natural resources, restoration of temples, ponds, stone fountains and other physical heritage as well as integrated urban development efforts.
He further noted the metropolitan office’s use of information and communication technology, operation of single-service centers, and prioritization of complaint management systems have made the office citizen-friendly, accountable, transparent, and service-oriented.
Emphasizing the need for determined, energetic, and principled leadership to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted by the public, President Paudel appealed to all to participate in the upcoming election on March 5, which he said would help realize the changes desired by the youth.
The Metropolitan Day ceremony was attended by the President, Vice President, Chief Justice, Speaker and Chairperson of the National Assembly, among others. The metropolitan office also honored individuals and public representatives who have contributed in various fields. President Paudel and Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav presented certificates of appreciation and awards during the program.
