Price jumps Rs 10,900 per tola in just one week as gold glitters brighter

KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The price of gold in the domestic market increased Rs 10,900 per tola (11.6638 grams) last week.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the market price of gold increased to Rs 269,300 from Rs 258,400 per tola when the market closed the previous week. The bullion market started the week with a decline of Rs 100 on Sunday.


On Monday, the price increased Rs 3,400 followed by an increase of Rs 5,500 on Tuesday and Rs 900 per tola on Wednesday. The price dropped Rs 600 on Thursday, while it escalated Rs 1,800 per tola to close for the week.


According to the FENEGOSIDA, the gold price fluctuated due to the ongoing global geopolitical tension and increasing attraction of investors on bullion with the arrival of New Year 2026.


Along with gold, the price of silver also hit the record high of Rs 4,565 per tola on Friday. Overall, the price surged by Rs 560 from Rs 4,005 per tola of the previous week.
