KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Twelve individuals from the 110 names included in the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) proportional representation (PR) list have withdrawn their names for various reasons.
According to RSP Deputy General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, the candidates who withdrew include Milan Limbu, Dharmalal Tamang, Trishala Gurung, Sachin Dhakal, Mohna Ansari, Asif Shah, Mahendra Lawoti, Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Arnico Panday, Govinda Narayan, Srijana Oli, and Sajan BK.
RSP PR list controversy: Arnico Panday withdraws name
Acharya explained that the controversy arose while submitting the PR list to the Election Commission (EC) due to internal adjustments and negotiations among different party factions and newly joined leaders. “From around 400 aspirants, we finalized the 110 names through a detailed internal process. During party adjustments, some members voluntarily stepped back to prioritize the party’s interest,” he told Republica.
He emphasized that the decision to withdraw names was made collectively and with mutual agreement. With some candidates stepping back, RSP is preparing to submit an updated PR list to the EC. “The EC has set different deadlines for parties to update their lists. We will finalize and submit RSP’s updated PR list within the allotted time,” Acharya added.
