KATHMANDU, May 6: A total of 2,218 drivers were penalized for violating traffic rules over the past 24 hours, generating Rs 641,000 in revenue for the state.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, 86 individuals were booked for drunk driving, 170 for illegal ride-sharing, 148 for violating traffic signals, and 139 for overspeeding.
Similarly, 94 motorists were penalized for not maintaining lane discipline, 108 for honking in prohibited areas, 138 for parking on sidewalks, and 110 for driving on one-way roads. Additionally, 1,125 individuals were booked for other traffic violations.
