RUPANDEHI, March 4: Rupandehi police have detained 11 individuals and sealed four liquor shops for violating the election code during the ongoing House of Representatives election, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to Krishna Kumar Chand, spokesperson for the District Police Office, the individuals were involved in the sale, distribution, and transport of alcohol, which is prohibited during the election period to ensure a fair, peaceful, and safe voting environment.
Nine people, including operators, were detained from a restaurant in Siddharthnagar Municipality–6, Buddha Chowk. Additionally, 110 bottles of liquor branded Dami and Ishq were seized from a shop in Mayadevi Rural Municipality–5, Gonaha Chowk. Two more operators were detained from restaurants in Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality–7, Bhagalapur, and Ward No. 3, Siyabhar.

All shops involved in prohibited alcohol trading were sealed. A special police team has been deployed across the district to strictly monitor and enforce the ban.
The local administration has completely prohibited the sale, distribution, and public consumption of alcoholic products throughout the election period. Police warned that anyone violating the ban will face action under prevailing laws.
Authorities emphasized that monitoring of election code violations continues and that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.
