Bagmati govt offers relief for vehicles damaged during Gen Z protests, waives taxes and renewal fees

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The Bagmati provincial government has decided to provide relief to vehicles that were completely damaged during the Gen Z protests by waiving vehicle taxes and renewal fees.

According to a notice published in the provincial gazette on Monday, government-owned, public, board-operated, and private vehicles that were fully damaged during the protests will be exempted from vehicle tax and renewal charges.


Public transport vehicles operating on a rental basis will also receive exemptions on inspection and route permit renewal fees.


The Federation of Nepal Truck Entrepreneurs stated that the decision was taken following its recommendations. A delegation from the federation had met Bagmati Province Minister for Labour, Employment and Transport Jayaram Thapa, urging the government to grant tax and fee relief.


Federation General Secretary Rajendra Bikram Baniya said the decision has provided significant relief to transport entrepreneurs.
