KATHMANDU, May 7: The Patan High Court has cleared the way for the screening of the Nepali film Lalibazar by revoking an earlier short-term interim order that had halted its release. Following the court’s decision, the movie is now scheduled for nationwide release this Friday, with bookings open.
A division bench of Judges Shadananda Tiwari and Netra Prakash Acharya ruled that the interim order issued earlier to stop the film’s screening did not need to be continued.

The court stated that the issues raised in the writ petition could be addressed during the final hearing, making it unnecessary to maintain the interim order issued on April 28.
“As the matters raised in the writ petition can be considered during the final hearing, there is no need to continue the short-term interim order issued by this court on April 28,” the order stated.
Earlier, the Central Board of Film Censors had directed the filmmakers to remove or mute certain words and phrases used in the film, including “Badi,” “the king’s property,” and “offering.”
The interim order was issued after Roshani Nepali filed a writ petition challenging the censor board’s directive.
