KATHMANDU, Sept 29: President Ramchandra Paudel has appealed for holding the election on the scheduled date and ensuring the continuity of parliament and government thereafter.
He made this appeal in his message on the occasion of Bada Dashain 2082.

“Let the scheduled election be held on time, and let everyone remain calm and extend the necessary support and cooperation to ensure the continuity of a parliament and government chosen by the people, to resolve all types of problems facing the nation, to achieve quick relief from the current situation, and to work for the welfare of the entire nation. May Goddess Durga provide strength for this,” President Paudel stated in his message.
Following the Gen Z protests on September 8–9, then–Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned. No alternative government could be formed in the House of Representatives. An interim government was then formed under former Chief Justice Sushila Karki. Acting on the interim government’s recommendation, President Paudel dissolved the House of Representatives on September 12. The next House of Representatives election has been scheduled for March 5, 2026.
In this context, President Paudel appealed to everyone to ensure the election is held on schedule and to maintain the continuity of parliament and government. He also wished for peace, stability, good governance, and prosperity for the country.
President Paudel said that proper management of the extraordinary situation, the human losses, and the material and other damages in government, institutional, and private sectors requires everyone’s cooperation.
He expressed confidence that celebrating and preserving the Dashain festival will help strengthen national unity and deepen respect and love for the nation. Concluding his message, President Paudel wished that Bada Dashain 2082 bring new enthusiasm, joy, and positive energy to everyone.
