KATHMANDU, April 26: The government has continued clearing riverbanks and other high-risk public and government land in the Kathmandu Valley on Sunday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, a government team was deployed from early morning to demolish remaining structures and vacate the land.

Clearance operations have begun in vulnerable settlements at Gothatar Buddhachowk in Ward No. 8 and Manohara Tole in Ward No. 9 of Kageshwari Manohara Municipality, Kathmandu.
Before demolishing physical structures, security personnel assisted residents in removing and transporting their belongings.
The Secretariat stated that after completing work in these areas, remaining structures along riverbanks and other high-risk public and government land in Gairigaun (Ward No. 9) and Shantinagar (Ward No. 31) will also be cleared.
On Saturday, land in Thapathali (Ward No. 11) was vacated in a peaceful and coordinated manner.
So far, 214 families affected by the eviction drive have come into contact with the government. Temporary arrangements for accommodation and food have been made for them in various hotels.
