KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Police have arrested five additional individuals accused of involvement in the killing of two police personnel during the September 9 Gen Z protests in Maharajgunj.
Assistance Sub Inspector Milan Raya and police constable Uttam Thapa were fatally attacked by protesters outside the Maharajgunj Police Circle killing him on site. Following continued investigation, police have now taken five more suspects into custody — Som Gurung (21) of Gorkha, Rajiv Gurung (21) of Tanahun, and Yunik Shrestha (21). Two minors, Sumit Titung (17) of Sarlahi and Deepak Magar (16) of Ramechhap, have also been detained at the District Police Range, Kathmandu in Bhadrakali.

Preliminary findings suggest direct involvement of the arrested individuals in the fatal assault on the officers.
Four more people, Yubaraj Kyapchaki, Sonam Tamang alias Budhilal Thing, Hom Prasad Poudel, and Tikaram BK, accused in the killing are currently under judicial custody for trial. Police investigations indicate that Kyapchaki and Thing were responsible for attacking and killing Constable Thapa, while Poudel and BK were involved in killing ASI Raya.
Police have stated that Titung and Magar were initially detained on October 17, while the remaining three suspects were arrested on October 20
