According to Karki, “Mitty and the Wild Cat” was written during one of the most challenging phases of her public life, when she was leading an interim government formed in the aftermath of the Gen Z movement that led to the ouster of the then administration. Despite the political uncertainty, she said she turned to storytelling as a way to reflect on child psychology, imagination, and emotional resilience.
The children’s book centers on themes of love, hope, and positivity, woven through a narrative designed to engage young readers while subtly addressing emotional understanding and curiosity about the world. Karki emphasized that the story draws heavily from creativity and introspection, shaped during a period of intense national responsibility.
The launch event was closely tied to a family occasion, as Karki dedicated the book to her grandson during his rice-feeding ceremony, adding a personal layer to what she described as one of her most heartfelt works.
With this latest publication, the former Chief Justice and Prime Minister continues to build a literary portfolio that bridges governance, memory, and storytelling, now extending into children’s literature with a focus on nurturing emotional imagination in early childhood.
