KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal has defeated Oman by 81 runs in the match played today under the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2.
In the match held at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, chasing a victory target of 256 runs set by the hosts for a win, Oman were all out in 39.5 overs with only 175 runs on the board. Hammad Mirza (34 in 51 balls) and Vinayak Shukla (36 runs in 41 balls) were the notable contributors for Oman.
For Nepal, Gulshan Jha took 5 wickets in 9 overs, giving away only 38 runs at 4.22 runs per over. Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Dipendra Singh Airee and Sandeep Lamichhane took 1 wicket each.

Earlier opting to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal posted a total of 256 runs in 49.5 overs, all out in the penultimate ball of the first innings.
Opener Aasif Sheikh top scored for Nepal scoring 94 runs in 97 balls including 7 fours and 5 sixes. He was later adjudged the player of the match. Arjun Kumal scored 48 runs in 87 balls followed by Aarif Sheikh, who contributed 43 runs in just 24 balls. Dipendra Singh Airee scored 33 runs in 42 balls. Gulshan Jha scored 17 runs in 23 balls.
For the bowling side, Nadeem Khan took 3 wickets in 10 overs while Shakeel Ahmed took 2 wickets and Jiten Ramanandi took 1 wicket.
