KATHMANDU, May 23: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week inclined 26.55 points (0.97 percent) posting a little hope among the investors after the successive fall in the previous week.
The secondary market opened at 2,731.94 points and closed at 2,758.49 points. The market rose as high as 2,764.14 points and fell as low as 2,719.27 points, marking the volatility of 44.87 points over the period.

Last week, the market declined for three days, with the largest fall of 12.36 points on Thursday. On two-day gains, the index surged by 30.08 points and 16.38 points, on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
Sector wise, hydropower group had the largest turnover of Rs 2.68 billion. This was followed by manufacturing and processing with a transaction amount of Rs 421.43 million.
The average daily turnover, however, slid to Rs 3.54 billion from Rs 3.69 billion, marking a decline of 4.07 percent. Market capitalization increased to Rs 4.704 trillion from Rs 4.659 trillion, making the investors earn capital gains of Rs 45 billion in their book values. In the previous week, investors had lost Rs 234 billion.
