KATHMANDU, Oct 2: The Living Goddess Kumari Aryatara will offer Dashain tika to the general public on Vijaya Dashami.
According to Gautam Shakya, coordinator of the Kumari Ghar Management Committee at Hanumandhoka, the program to offer tika will begin after 11 AM today, following the traditional ritual of presenting the Living Goddess before Taleju Bhawani on the night of Maha Navami.
People receive tika from living goddess Kumari
It is believed that Kumari receives divine power after being taken for the midnight darshan of Taleju Bhawani. She is revered as the living embodiment of the goddess.
On the night of Maha Navami, a long-standing tradition of sacrificing 54 goats and 54 buffaloes near the Mulchowk of Hanumandhoka is also observed. Animal sacrifices were performed last night as part of the rituals of Kalratri. These religious ceremonies are carried out with the belief that they invoke the strength necessary for the governance of the state.
