JHAPA, Oct 25: The Kakarvitta check point along the Nepal-India border in Jhapa witnessed the imports of petroleum products worth over Rs 4.48 billion in the first three months of the current fiscal 2082-83 BS (2025-26) that commenced in mid-July.
The imported petroleum products are petrol, diesel, cooking gas (liquefied petroleum gas), avian turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene.

According to Mechi Customs Office's Information Officer, Ishwor Kumar Humagain, the imports are more by 1.30 percent compared to the corresponding period last fiscal year. With an increased quantity of fuel imports, the revenue collection from the petro products has also increased by 3.20 percent which amounts to Rs 68.09 million. The total revenue collections from the imports of petroleum products amounts to Rs 2.20 billion.
In the period of three months, 26,320 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs. 2.32 billion followed by 13,356 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs. 1.26 billion were imported.
Likewise, the imported amount of cooking gas was 6,361 metric tons of LPG amounting to Rs 620.81 million while 2,256 kiloliters of ATF worth Rs. 202.6 million, and 420 kiloliters of kerosene worth Rs. 37.9 million were imported.
