RSP Whip Pariyar urges govt to ensure environment conducive to fear-free journalism

MP and Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Prakash Chandra Pariyar, describing journalism as the backbone of democracy, urged the government to ensure that journalists and media houses can work in a safe, fear-free environment.

KATHMANDU, July 14: MP and Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Prakash Chandra Pariyar, describing journalism as the backbone of democracy, urged the government to ensure that journalists and media houses can work in a safe, fear-free environment.



Speaking during a special time in the meeting of the House of Representatives today, Pariyar made it clear that his party has always stood firm like a rock in support of democracy, the rule of law, and full press freedom.


He emphasized that even though his party stood for the defence of press freedom, the press should also play its role as a responsible journalist.

Demand to control inflation and black marketing


MP Yubaraj Dulal, on behalf of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) parliamentary group, demanded that the government control inflation, black marketing, and middlemen so that relief could be provided to the people.


Dulal expressed the view that the government's activities should be people-oriented.


He said that the government needs to effectively fulfill its responsibilities in favour of good governance. 


MP Dulal demanded the government to resolve the situation of the displaced squatters holding the centre as soon as possible.
