KATHMANDU, March 28: Security around Gauri Bahadur Karki, head of the commission investigating the September 8–9 Gen Z protests and vandalism, has been significantly increased by police and Armed Police Force (APF).
In a meeting of security agency chiefs at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday evening, chaired by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, officials decided that Karki could be transferred to army barracks for his protection.

Karki, a resident of Bhaktapur Gundu, reportedly declined to move to the barracks when an army team arrived at his home. Sources said he would notify authorities if necessary but would not go to the barracks immediately.
Heightened security measures follow the arrests of former Prime Minister and UML Chairman K.P. Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak earlier today. Meanwhile, the UML has announced nationwide protests in response.
