KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Banepa Bazaar in Kavrepalanchok is tense after a scooter rider was killed on the spot this morning when hit by a tipper truck. Protests by local residents have disrupted traffic, and demonstrations are ongoing.
The tipper, bearing number Ba Pra 01004 Ka 3423, struck the scooter with number Bagmati Province 02–063 P 9189 near the telecommunications office.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. The police have taken the body to Scheer Memorial Hospital.
The tipper driver fled the scene, and enraged locals set the vehicle on fire.
