Traffic police conduct surprise checks in Kathmandu Valley, 103 drivers penalised

According to traffic police, the checks targeted public vehicles, water tankers, garbage trucks, ambulances and school buses.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Traffic police carried out surprise checks across the Kathmandu Valley on Monday morning, penalising 103 vehicle drivers for various traffic violations.



According to traffic police, the checks targeted public vehicles, water tankers, garbage trucks, ambulances and school buses.

During the operation, 13 drivers were found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Of them, 12 drivers operating public vehicles while intoxicated were taken into custody and sent to respective police offices and circles for further legal action.


Traffic police said the surprise checks were aimed at reducing road accidents that frequently occur during morning hours
