KATHMANDU, April 17: Tribhuvan University (TU) has taken a firm stance to reclaim its land and immovable assets that have been illegally occupied by various individuals, companies, and organizations.
Publishing a public notice in Friday’s Gorkhapatra Daily, the university issued a final 35-day ultimatum to vacate such properties. The move follows findings of the “Land and Immovable Property Investigation Committee Report 2081 BS,” which concluded that several TU-owned lands had been unlawfully occupied and controlled in violation of prevailing laws and regulations.

Acting on the report, the TU Executive Council has decided to initiate the process of reclaiming encroached properties.
In the notice, TU stated that various individuals, private companies, and institutions have been using land originally allocated by the government and donors for educational development, in violation of established rules.
The TU General Administration Division warned that failure to vacate the properties within 35 days will lead to strict legal action under prevailing laws.
The decision was taken in accordance with the Executive Council meeting held on April 6, 2026.
