KATHMANDU, May 4: Lawmaker Suhang Nembang has proposed that the parliamentary Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee conduct monitoring of holding centres where landless squatters have been temporarily housed.



Nembang raised the proposal during a meeting of the Federal Parliament committee, stressing the need to assess the condition and management of the facilities.

The proposal received support from committee chair Samikshya Baskota and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam.


The discussion comes amid growing debate over the government’s handling of informal settlements and the relocation of landless communities following recent eviction drives.
