UML leader Ain Mahar released on Rs 100,000 bail, wife arrested

KATHMANDU, Dec 22:  CPN-UML leader Ain Mahar has been released on Rs 100,000 bail in a case filed under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2006.



The Kathmandu District Court found Mahar liable under Section 47 of the Act and ordered his release upon furnishing bail, which he subsequently paid.

However, Mahar’s wife Anuja Shrestha has been arrested by the Cyber Bureau in connection with the same case. A complaint was filed against the couple by Rashmila Bom, alleging an offence under Section 47 of the Electronic Transactions Act.


Police said further investigation is ongoing.
