KATHMANDU, March 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged 38.52 points on Tuesday, the last trading day before the elections of the House of Representatives (HoR), to close at 2,712.49 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,674.20 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,667.28 points in the first nine minutes. The market however escalated almost over the remaining trading hours of around four hours. Overall, the market observed a growth of 1.44 percent.
Nepse stretches winning run with record weekly turnover
Except for the trading group that shedded 32.43 points, the remaining 12 sectors were the gainers. As manufacturing and processing added the largest of 137.81 points, life insurance, non-life insurance, and hotels and tourism were recorded as gainers of three-digit points.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies increased 6.25 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 6.23 billion from Rs 5.64 billion.
Among the individual companies, 254 were gainers while six were recorded as losers. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 346.53 million.
Salapa Bikas Bank Limited gained the highest of 9.99 percent in its market value. Shuvam Power Limited with a decline of 2.53 percent was the topmost loser.
