PARSA, March 3: In the first seven months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26, Birgunj Customs recorded imports worth Rs 519 billion. During the same period last FY, imports were lower by Rs 57.31 billion, or 12 percent, compared to the current fiscal year.
According to Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, petroleum products accounted for the largest share of imports this FY, followed by iron and iron products. Petroleum imports totaled Rs 143 billion, while iron and iron products amounted to Rs 46.16 billion.
Birgunj Customs collects Rs 236.31 billion as revenue
During the review period, machinery and its parts worth Rs 35.87 billion were imported. This was followed by soyabean crude oil imports worth Rs 35.67 billion and electric machinery, equipment, and their parts valued at Rs 27.98 billion.
