East-West Highway obstructed over death of man in road accident

MAHENDRANAGAR, Dec 5: The East-West Highway here has been obstructed by local people who have been protesting the killing of an elderly man in a road accident near Banka in Krishnapur Municipality-1 in Kanchanpur district today morning.

The agitating local people and family and relatives of the deceased have obstructed the highway by placing the body of the deceased on the road.

Local resident Taranath, 65, was killed when an Indian number plate jeep (DL 17 C 4754) that was headed to Jhalari from Bani hit him. The police have taken control of the jeep and its driver.

Efforts are underway to clear the road, according to the local administration.
