NC former VP Shrestha urges leadership to honor Special General Convention demand

Former NC Vice President Gopal Man Shrestha urged that the Nepali Congress follow its constitution and implement Special Convention decisions, stressing the need for new-generation leadership and party reform.

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Former Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Gopal Man Shrestha has asserted that he has not come to the program to demand any position.



Speaking at the inaugural function of NC Special Convention at Bhrikuti Mandap on Sunday, Shrestha emphasized the importance of following party statutes as imperative for the party functioning.

“I am not standing here to ask for any post or role. The party must be run according to its constitution and the decisions of this convention must be enforced,” he said.


Shrestha further urged party reform, saying, “Now the party must change. Leadership must be entrusted to the new generation. If the Nepali Congress weakens, the country’s democracy weakens. That is why we must be ready to make any sacrifice.”
