PM Oli announces building 50,000-capacity stadium in Suryabinayak

LALITPUR, July 11: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced the construction of a 50,000-capacity stadium in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur, citing the limited capacity of Dasharath Stadium.



Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘National High Performance Centre and Sports Science Research Centre’ in Satdobato, PM Oli urged the National Sports Council (NSC) to advance preparations for the National Premier League (NPL) with a strong team spirit.

Addressing uncertainties surrounding the second edition of NPL, he called on all stakeholders to avoid politicizing the sports sector and highlighted its growing potential as a source of income and business in Nepal.


Recalling his recent visit to Real Madrid’s stadium during his trip to Spain, PM Oli emphasized the need for a larger facility in the country and committed to developing a world-class venue in Bhaktapur.


He also directed the NSC to adhere to the schedule for the 10th National Sports Tournament, warning that any further delays would bring national embarrassment. The tournament is set to take place from November 17 to 23 in Birendranagar, Surkhet.
